Membrane Bio-Reactor, or MBR, is a wastewater treatment process that uses a membrane for filtering, along with the activated sludge process for nutrient removal. The membrane uses microscopic pores to create a physical barrier that solids and pathogens cannot get past, producing the highest quality effluent possible today.
Bio-Microbics has produced a unique MBR called BioBarrier. BioBarrier is available for flows ranging from 100 gallons per day to 100,000 gallons per day. It removes nutrients and pathogens to undetectable levels, including such pollutants as phosphorus, nitrogen, Biochemical Oxygen Demand and Total Suspended Solids issues, and fecal coliform bacteria. Perfect for environmentally sensitive areas, BioBarrier is the only MBR system available for flows under 10,000 gallons per day.
